“Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.” – Malcolm X Education is not merely a journey; it is a passport to the future, a key that unlocks the doors of opportunity and possibility. It is this sentiment that resonates deeply within the halls of Sri Siddhivinayaka Residential School as we celebrate a significant milestone in our journey – 25 years of unwavering commitment to education and holistic development. Established in 1997, our school stands as a testament to the transformative power of education under the visionary leadership of Vedamurthy H Ramachandra Bhat. As we reflect on our journey spanning a quarter of a century, we are reminded of the values that have guided us every step of the way. From the pursuit of academic excellence to the nurturing of sportsmanship, artistic expression, and character development, Sri Siddhivinayaka Residential School has been a beacon of quality education nestled in the heart of Hattiangadi. Our commitment to providing a supportive learning environment has prepared generations of students for the challenges of a competitive global landscape. But beyond academics, we believe in nurturing well-rounded individuals, empowering them to discover and develop their talents, paving the way for a brighter future. In anticipation of our 25th-anniversary celebration, we embarked on an extraordinary journey with our students to delve into the captivating world of Rubik’s Cube solving. Through dedication, perseverance, and a passion for problem-solving, we achieved not just one, but two Guinness World Records! This incredible feat stands as a testament to the hard work and determination of our students, who embraced the challenge with enthusiasm and drive. Their commitment to mastering the art of solving the Rubik’s Cube is truly commendable and has brought pride and recognition to our institution.
The decision to introduce puzzle Rubik’s Cube training had dual purpose. First, it was born out of a necessity to address the noticeable shift in our students’ post-pandemic attitudes. With increased screen time on mobile devices becoming a concerning trend, we sought a constructive solution to redirect their focus towards a more engaging and intellectually stimulating activity. The puzzle Rubik’s Cube emerged as the perfect solution. We believed that this initiative will not only serve as a captivating skill for our students but also contribute to enhancing their cognitive abilities, problem-solving skills and overall mental agility.
Second, rather than seeking inspiration from celebrities through calls, our focus was on empowering students to become celebrities in their own right. We prioritize cultivating their potential to shine and inspire, shifting the spotlight from external figures to fostering greatness within our student community. Consequently, on the dates 30/11/2023 and 01/12/2023, the school set a new record by creating the largest dual-sided rotating puzzle cube mosaic. The previous record, held by Mr. Zhengis Aitzhanov from Kazakhstan, measured 15.878 sqm with 5100 cubes. Sri Siddhivinayaka Residential School surpassed this, measuring an impressive 19.198 sqm with 6000 cubes. The dual-sided design featured Major Dhyan Chand, a legendary Indian field hockey player and P V Sindhu, an Indian badminton player. On 02/12/2023 and 03/12/2023, the school also secured the record for the most contributions to a rotating puzzle cube mosaic. The previous record, held by Rubik’s Brand Limited (UK), involved 308 people. Sri Siddhivinayaka Residential School exceeded this with a rotating puzzle cube mosaic honoring Vedamurthy H Ramachandra Bhat, the school’s founder. A remarkable 1260 participants contributed with 1260 cubes, breaking the existing record. The record-breaking attempt was closely observed by Mr. Rishi Nath, the official Guinness World Record Adjudicator, along with over 30 officials serving as witnesses and stewards. It is not just a record; it is a symphony of collaboration and perseverance. It is a testament to the passion and resilience of our students, the dedication of our teachers and the visionary leadership of our Principal Mr. Sharana Kumara, whose guidance paved the way for this extraordinary accomplishment. A book titled ಪ್ರತಿಜ್ಞೆ – ಪರಿವರ್ತನೆ–ಪರಿಪೂರ್ಣಸಂಕಲ್ಪದಂತೆ ಪರಿವರ್ತನೆಯಾಗಿಪರಿಪೂರ್ಣದೆಡೆಗೆwas published in our school with the noble aim of providing a meaningful platform that brings joy to students during their holidays. The intent behind this initiative is to support both the
physical and mental development of children, ensuring that they make constructive use of their vacation time while avoiding distractions or engagement in unproductive activities. To support this purpose, we have listed a variety of folk games, fun activities, and brain-stimulating puzzles that contribute to the physical and mental well-being of students. Alongside the names of these games, we have also briefly described their benefits and the methods of play. While the rules or ways of playing may differ slightly from region to region, the ultimate objective of each game remains the same. Students are expected to learn and play at least five of the games listed during their holiday break. Among these, solving the Rubik’s Cube—which has already been distributed to all students by the school—is compulsory for everyone to learn. Upon returning to school after the vacation, students will be asked to demonstrate their skills in these games whenever instructed by their teachers. This thoughtful initiative has significantly contributed to the school’s effort in achieving a Guinness World Record. As we bask in the glory of our achievements, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to every stakeholder who contributed to this success story. From the students who exhibited extraordinary dedication to the parents who supported their journey, from the teachers who nurtured their talents to the community that rallied behind them – each one played a pivotal role in making this dream a reality. In the words of Nelson Mandela, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” And as we celebrate 25 years of excellence at Sri Siddhivinayaka Residential School, let us continue to wield this weapon of education, shaping futures and changing lives for generations to come.
